After finalizing his high-profile move from Racing Club to River Plate, Maxi Salas broke his silence with a scathing statement aimed at Racing president Diego Milito. The Argentine forward, who began training this week under Marcelo Gallardo, published a lengthy Instagram post defending his decision and denouncing what he called “months of mistreatment” by the club’s leadership.
Salas, who joined Racing as a free agent and helped win both the Copa Sudamericana and Recopa, claimed his contract was never improved despite repeated requests. “They never offered me a raise, not even once,” he wrote. “I never gave my word to anyone. That’s a total lie.”
The 27-year-old revealed River's interest came at a time when Racing had yet to recognize his value. “They only remembered I existed when River made an approach,” he said. “I left out of dignity after how I was treated.”
In his post, Salas thanked the fans, coach Gustavo Costas, and his teammates, but made it clear the split with Milito was final. “It’s easier to blame me than to face the fact they made a mistake,” he concluded. The explosive remarks signal a bitter end to his time with the club.
