This summer, Chelsea has been the most active player in the transfer market. Today, the club officially announced the signing of João Félix from Atlético Madrid, but they will also be selling players.
Chelsea's head coach, Enzo Maresca, essentially confirmed today that winger Raheem Sterling and left-back Ben Chilwell can start looking for new clubs:
"I spoke with Raheem before the game against Manchester City and told him it would be difficult for him to get minutes with us. As for Chilwell, I said he’s a great guy, but due to his position, it would be challenging. I’m not saying Sterling isn’t a good player, but I prefer different types of wingers.
They are Chelsea players. For now, they remain Chelsea players. But it’s impossible to give everyone playing time. Those who need it are better off leaving."
Tomorrow, August 22nd, Chelsea will play their first match in the Conference League qualification playoffs against Swiss side Servette. Sterling and Chilwell have not been included in the squad for this game.
It is worth noting that in the first round of the English Premier League, Chelsea lost 0-2 at home to Manchester City.
