The man previously arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of Nottingham Panthers hockey player Adam Johnson has been released on bail again, according to Mirror. The incident occurred in October 2023, when Johnson suffered a fatal neck laceration after making contact with an opponent's skate blade during a match against Sheffield Steelers.

"In November 2023, a man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter in connection with Adam's death. He was later bailed and has now been re-bailed until 20 January 2025," said South Yorkshire Police.

Following Johnson's death, the Nottingham Panthers retired the number 47 jersey in honor of the tragically deceased player.

The incident also led to stronger regulations for neck protection in hockey. The IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation) ruled that neck guards will become mandatory in all leagues under its jurisdiction starting from the 2024/25 season. However, such protection remains optional in the NHL.

Adam Johnson was laid to rest in November 2023 in his hometown of Hibbing, Minnesota.
