Liverpool head coach Arne Slot hit out at the officials following a crushing 0-3 defeat to Manchester City. The coach believes that the disallowed Van Dijk goal for offside was the pivotal moment of the game.
According to Slot, if the referees hadn't flagged Robertson for offside, the match could have unfolded very differently.
In my view, the decision was incorrect. Robertson was not interfering with the goalkeeper at all. Right after the match, I was shown a goal that the same referee allowed for City against Wolverhampton last season—John Stones scored the winner late on and no offside was called. This time, the linesman raised his flag after 13 seconds. So that decision had a huge impact on the match. It doesn't mean we definitely would have got a positive result, but who knows how things would have played out in the second half,
As a reminder, after the defeat Liverpool dropped to eighth place in the table, while Manchester City moved up to second, trailing Arsenal by four points.
