Manchester City are hosting Liverpool in the 11th round of the Premier League.
An intriguing moment unfolded as early as the 10th minute. Doku dispossessed the defenders, broke into the penalty area, but lost his balance before he could get a shot off. After consulting VAR, the referee awarded a penalty, spotting a foul by Mamardashvili on Doku.
Erling Haaland stepped up to the spot, but aiming for the bottom right corner, was unable to beat the Georgian goalkeeper. Notably, this was the Norwegian striker’s first penalty attempt of the season. The Citizens’ forward has now missed three of his last six penalty kicks.
Interestingly, Haaland already has 98 Premier League goals to his name. He is closing in on breaking Alan Shearer's record as the fastest player to reach 100 goals in the Premier League.
