Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lebohang Maboe on talk of a rift between players and coaches: There is absolutely no such thing as that in the team
There has been talk that Kaizer Chiefs co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Ben Youssef Khalid have lost control of the club’s dressing room.
And the failure by the coaching duo to arrest the situation is the reason the club is dropping points.
Chiefs have lost grip in the PSL title race having dropped to the fifth spot even though they were on the third position for the greater part of the season.
But ahead of Amakhosi’s Betway Premiership match against Durban City on Sunday, midfielder Lebohang Maboe said this is not the case.
“There is no such thing. There is absolutely no such thing,” said Maboe.
“These are our coaches. These are our leaders and for us as players we share the same goal which is helping the team to get points and winning each game.
“It’s just unfortunate. And I’m going to reiterate what my colleague has said that it’s unfortunate that the past three weeks have damaged the work that we have been doing for the past three, four months, to be quite honest with you.
“But this is a situation that we are faced with right now and we are confident and working together that we are going to turn the corner.”
Chiefs will hope to turn this around on Sunday at FNB Stadium.
The game starts at 3.30pm.
