Kaizer Chiefs coach Cedric Kaze on midfielder Lebohang Maboe: To have a player like him has elevated our game in a massive way as he lifts the team
Cedric Kaze has lauded Lebohang Maboe’s impact at Kaizer Chiefs this season.
The Amakhosi coach spoke glowingly of Maboe’s contribution to the team having arrived during the off-season from the defunct SuperSport United.
Maboe, a former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder has amassed four Man of the Match awards for Chiefs this season which is more like a redemption campaign for him.
The coach was all smiles as Chiefs won 2-0 against TS Galaxy yesterday at FNB Stadium to cement their push for a third place finish.
“I think that in every game model you use in a football team, the midfield is very important and when the midfield works well, the rest of the team follows together, having a player who understands the game, it leads the other players, technically and mentally,” said Kaze said to iDiskiTimes.
“He knows when to go forward, when to slow down the game, he’s a player who is always looking to play forward — he plays very few passes back and he’s a player as well that has a very good delivery on set-pieces.”
“To have this kind of technical player, with his experience is invaluable; he lifts the team up.”
