Kaizer Chiefs captain Brandon Peterson ahead of their titanic clash against Orlando Pirates: It's going to be a fight but we are ready for this match
Brandon Peterson has labelled Kaizer Chiefs ready for tomorrow’s Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates in a Betway Premiership match.
The Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper and captain Peterson said Amakhosi are ready for their fierce rivals who are desperate for maximum points.
Chiefs are third on the PSL table while Pirates are atop of the standings with 58 points and they are looking at cementing their third spot which will see them play in the Caf Confederation Cup next season.
Pirates are after a PSL trophy which they have not won in over eight years as defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns have dominated the local scene with eight PSL trophies in succession.
For Pirates to maintain their hopes of derailing Sundowns from their ninth title on the trot they will need to beat Chiefs tomorrow at FNB Stadium.
But from what Peterson is saying, it will not be as easy.
"From the first to the last whistle, it's going to be back and forth; it's going to be a fight, but come Sunday, the soldiers will be ready," he said ahead of the game.
"I would say yes. If you look at everything so far this season and the stakes, there is fighting for the league and fighting for CAF spots; there is all of that. If you look at the log, there are people coming, so you want to finish as high as you can," said Petersen.
"You want to secure continental football for next season, so for me, the magnitude of this game I would say is probably one of the most exciting, one of the biggest derbies that I will be playing in because of all the stakes."
The match starts at 3pm.
