Jayden Adams may be the reason Mamelodi Sundowns lose grip on the title race.

The Bafana Bafana midfielder received a red card in the highly charged match in midweek against Kaizer Chiefs and this could hurt Sundowns' title ambitions.

Adams has become a key man in midfield for Miguel Cardoso's troops with his brilliant passing of the ball and dirty work.

This season, the former Stellenbosch FC midfielder had to work his way back into the Sundowns team and also Bafana Bafana squad after dipping in form.

His standout passing ability and high work rate in midfield have been his strength.

But for the match against Siwelele FC this evening, Sundowns may call Sphelele Mkhulisi or Bathusi Aubaas in his place.

This may be detrimental to the Sundowns' Betway Premiership title chase as they two players have not been playing for quite a while.

Combination play and match fitness could hamper their progress in the game against a hard running Siwelele.

The Brazilians are on top of the standings with 65 points, three more than second placed Orlando Pirates.

In the first round fixture, the two sides drew 1-1 at Dr Molemela Stadium, but at Loftus Sundowns are a mean machine.

But it will be interesting if they can be at best without the ever impressive Adams.

The match starts at 5.30pm.
