Atalanta and Italy national team defender Giorgio Scalvini has undergone a successful knee surgery, as reported by the official website of "La Dea."

The center-back sustained the knee injury during the final match of the Serie A season, where Atalanta suffered a 3-2 defeat against Fiorentina at home in a rescheduled fixture.

This injury ruled him out of contention for Italy's Euro 2024 squad, and it is expected to sideline him for up to six months. He has immediately commenced rehabilitation and treatment for a full recovery, but it's unlikely that the defender will return to the field before 2025.

In the concluded season, Scalvini featured in 44 matches across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing three assists. He also represented the Italian national team in eight matches.

The assured performances of the 20-year-old defender have attracted interest from several top clubs. Media reports suggest that there is interest in the player from Manchester United, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, and Liverpool.
