‘It will be a question of ensuring we stay up,’ Anicet Koung talks about Aigle Royal's ambitions in Elite One ahead of the match against Unisport

Aigle Royal's new coach, Anicet Koung, spoke to the press today ahead of the match against Unisport on Saturday, 24 January 2026. For the Cameroonian coach, the first priority is to secure the team's place in the division before thinking about anything else. ‘The team is coming out of Elite Two. The priority will be to secure our place as soon as possible and then we'll see what happens next,’ said coach Koung.

Newly appointed coach of Aigle Royal, Anicet Koung looked back on his first spell at the club a few years ago. "2016-2017 was my first year with Aigle Royal. I'm returning to Aigle 10 years later. It's worth mentioning that this is my first club in Elite. At one point, I thought to myself that maybe it was time to give back to this department what it had given me. I stayed in touch with the president. We came to an agreement after lengthy discussions."

The new coach will make his debut on the Aigle Royal bench on Saturday 24 January against Unisport at the Bafang stadium at 5 pm GMT.
