Independiente Plans Transfer Moves and Infrastructure Upgrades

Following a resounding 7-0 victory over Nacional Potosí, Independiente head coach Julio Vaccari met with club officials on Thursday to chart out the upcoming transfer window. According to TyC Sports, the meeting focused on targeted reinforcements—specifically a right-back, a center-back, and two wingers—as well as infrastructure upgrades and preseason plans.
Independiente are enjoying a strong 2025 campaign. They reached the semifinals of the Torneo Apertura, topped Group A in the Copa Sudamericana to secure a Round of 16 berth, and sit fifth in the annual standings, just four points shy of Libertadores qualification. However, the team risks losing key players in the next transfer window.
Kevin Lomónaco and Felipe Loyola, standouts in the first half of the year, have drawn attention from European clubs. Lomónaco is being scouted by Real Betis and Borussia Dortmund, while Loyola has emerged as a target for Bayern Munich. The Chilean hinted at a potential farewell after Wednesday’s win, stating he wasn’t sure “if this was a goodbye.”
Vaccari stressed the importance of keeping the core intact but acknowledged that departures could reshape priorities. The meeting also addressed upgrades at the club’s training facility and outlined logistics for preseason preparations. A follow-up session will focus on specific player targets, as Independiente look to build momentum for a decisive second half of the season.
