Getafe defender Diego Rico has unleashed a scathing statement at Real Madrid’s Antonio Rüdiger following a controversial incident in which the German struck him with a knee to the back.

Details: Topskills Sports UK, quoting Rico, reports that the defender called Rüdiger’s actions deliberate and described them as physical assault. According to the Spaniard, Rüdiger’s aggression had been brewing in earlier moments of the match, when the two players clashed in heated exchanges and exchanged verbal provocations.

Diego Rico described the collision in detail, claiming that Rüdiger was actively seeking contact.

“That was an assault – you can clearly see he went in with intent. When the ball came to me, he even shoved his own teammate aside to crash into me. If the impact had been only slightly different, I could have been left sprawling on the pitch,” the defender declared in an emotional post-match interview.

Rico was especially incensed by the performance of the refereeing staff and the video replay system. He highlighted the selective nature of punishments in La Liga, hinting at the special status enjoyed by players from top clubs.

“If it had been the other way around, I’d have gotten a 10-match ban or wouldn’t play again this season. I don’t understand what the point of VAR is if it doesn’t catch incidents like that,” the player added.

It’s worth noting that, as of now, the La Liga disciplinary committee has not issued any official comment regarding a possible investigation into the incident.

Recall: The Getafe president stated that Real without Mbappé is a weakness.
