Algeria captain Riyad Mahrez has acknowledged Nigeria’s attacking threat ahead of Saturday’s AFCON 2025 quarter-final clash in Marrakech, while insisting he remains confident. Asked about facing Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams, the winger responded with humour, saying, “I am afraid,” before adding Nigeria “scored a lot of goals… They have a very good attack.”
He stressed, however, “I am not scared at all; it’s a football game.” Nigeria arrive as the tournament’s top scorers with 12 goals in four matches, while Algeria have conceded just once. Mahrez admitted, “I think it will be my last Africa Cup of Nations,” as he reflects.
