‘They Deserved to Win’ – Mahrez Concedes Nigeria Superiority

Algeria’s captain Riyad Mahrez admitted Nigeria were the better team after the Super Eagles beat the Desert Foxes 2-0 on Saturday in Morocco. The Super Eagles booked a semifinal spot after Victor Osimhen headed home in the second half, before Akor Adams added a second ten minutes later.

Speaking after the match, Mahrez said Nigeria deserved the win, noting, “It was unfortunate that they were better than us… They deserve to win, to be honest.” He added, “The last three games before we beat them, today they are better…”
