The Citizens have resolved their goalkeeper issue in a matter of hours.

Details: According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City and Olympique Marseille have finalized the deal for Geronimo Rulli, and the signature "here we go" has sounded. The 34-year-old Argentine shot-stopper will sign a two-year contract until June 2028, with an option for one more season, and has already been cleared to fly to Manchester for his medical.

Rulli will serve as backup goalkeeper behind Gianluigi Donnarumma, replacing James Trafford, who officially joined Leeds today for £45 million. The experienced Argentine spent last season at Marseille and, according to insiders, was actively pushing for a move to the English champions. This isn’t City’s first deal of the day, as the club continues to rapidly reshape their squad ahead of the new campaign.

Rulli is renowned for his nerves of steel in penalty shootouts: it was his saves that secured Villarreal’s victory in the 2021 Europa League final against Manchester United.

Reminder: Donnarumma, get ready! Man City have found a new goalkeeper
