Guzmán Heads to Portugal as Alianza Retains Partial Stake in Young Striker

Alianza Lima and Sporting Lisbon have reached a verbal agreement for the transfer of 19-year-old forward Víctor Guzmán, according to reports from La República. The move marks a major step in the player’s career and sees him join the same academy where Cristiano Ronaldo made his professional debut.
Under the deal, Sporting will sign Guzmán to a three-year contract without an initial transfer fee — a decision reflecting Alianza’s confidence in the player’s potential. The Portuguese club will acquire 60% of the economic rights, while Alianza will retain the remaining 40%, ensuring future financial participation should the player be sold again.
Despite his age, Guzmán already made a name for himself in Peru’s Liga 3, scoring eight goals in eight appearances under the nickname “Potrillo” (colt). His performance earned attention across borders and now offers him a platform to develop within one of Europe’s most respected youth systems.
For Alianza, this structure mirrors past strategies used in transfers involving Kevin Serna and Juan Pablo Freytes, where the club also kept a percentage for future dealings. It’s a calculated approach gaining traction across South American football — investing in youth with long-term returns in mind. As Guzmán looks to make his mark abroad, Alianza ensures it remains tied to his trajectory.
