Ghana Coach Carlos Queiroz Must Qualify First Before Talking About the AFCON Title

Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz says the Black Stars' immediate priority is qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, while also laying the foundation for a team capable of competing strongly at the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking ahead of Ghana's opening AFCON qualifiers, Queiroz stressed the need for total focus on the task at hand without losing sight of the long-term project.

The Portuguese tactician also called for humility, noting that Ghana must first secure qualification before talking about winning the AFCON.

According to him, the current qualifying campaign marks the start of a new cycle aimed at building a team that can honour Ghana's World Cup legacy in 2030.

Ghana will face Côte d'Ivoire on September 24 in Bouaké before hosting The Gambia on September 27 in Accra.
