“The match will be decided by the finer details”: Hervé Renard warns the Elephants ahead of the clash against Ghana

Ivory Coast host Ghana on Thursday 24 September for the opening match of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

At a press conference ahead of the clash, which will take place at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké, the Elephants’ manager spoke to the media. According to Hervé Renard, the match against Ghana’s Black Stars will be a tough one, and every little detail could make the difference.

The French manager believes, however, that his players have the character needed to tackle this fixture, which will kick off the qualifying campaign.

“When you have a match between two great teams, it will come down to the finer details. But we have enough character to take it on. However, it’s not enough just to say it, we’ll have to show it on the pitch. There are six matches to play. Sometimes you slip up in the first one and get the rest right. We must remain humble. This is a major fixture in African football. Ghana are a good side. The match won’t be easy for anyone,” said Hervé Renard.

The match between Ivory Coast and Ghana will kick off at 7 pm GMT.
