George Matlou on Kaizer Chiefs' title talk: We want to win the Betway Premiership title

Kaizer Chiefs are not deceiving anyone by being on the second spot of the Betway Premiership standings.

Amakhosi’s ascendancy to the second position is proof that they are gunning for the PSL title.

Chiefs jumped to the second spot in midweek after beating Marumo Gallants 1-0 in Bloemfontein and this has made many to believe they are potential champions.

Midfielder George Matlou had disclosed that the Naturena-based side are looking at winning the PSL title having last won it under Stuart Baxter more than 10 years ago.

This weekend the play in the Caf Confederation Cup match and are taking a break from PSL football.

“For now, we’re looking at Sunday’s game, then after we are going to focus on league games because the preparations are for Sunday,” said Matlou on UKhozi FM.

“Of course, talking about the league standings. We’re on the positive side, we’re on the second position and we want to win the league.”

Matlou believe the hard work both co-coaches Ben Yousef Khalid and Cedric Kaze are putting in is paying off.

“Our coaches are telling us to work hard, we’re going to win games, we mustn’t give up,” he added.

“We are adjusting into the plan, focusing on the tactics that the coaches are telling us. And so far, things are going well for us and we just stay positive. We work hard to win games.”
