For the first time in 10 years. Liverpool matches unwanted record for English champions
Liverpool is enduring one of its most turbulent Premier League campaigns of the past decade. In their Matchweek 31 fixture, the Reds suffered an away defeat to Brighton, missing the chance to break back into the top four.
For the first time since the 2015/16 campaign, the team has slumped to 10 defeats in a single Premier League season. What’s more, in the 2025/26 season, the Reds have already lost more league matches (10) than they did across the previous two seasons combined—2023/24 and 2024/25—when they registered just eight losses in total.
This statistic is especially painful given Liverpool’s status as defending English champions. The Reds have now joined the list of Premier League title holders who suffered double-digit defeats the following season.
