Double blow. Al Hilal set sights on Salah and Liverpool’s sporting director
Liverpool faces the risk of significant personnel losses as Saudi club Al Hilal is targeting not only team leader Mohamed Salah but also the club’s sporting director, Richard Hughes.
According to the Daily Mail, representatives of the Saudi club are considering bringing in Hughes—a move that could play a pivotal role in a potential Salah transfer. At Al Hilal, they believe that the arrival of the executive could help persuade the Egyptian star to switch clubs.
In the current campaign, the 33-year-old forward has seen a noticeable dip in his scoring output: after netting 34 goals across all competitions in the 2024/25 season, he has managed only 10 so far this year. This downward trend is raising questions within the club, and it’s quite possible that Liverpool may consider parting ways with one of their main stars as early as this summer.
