Barcelona is betting not only on tactics and transfers, but also on player recovery. Head coach Hansi Flick has invited a sleep disorder specialist to join the staff in order to monitor the players’ rest routines and boost their on-field performance.
According to SPORT, Anna West—the founder of Sleep2perform, a company that develops practical methods for improving sleep and fostering healthy habits—has joined the first team. Previously, she has worked with clubs like Arsenal and Milan, as well as with Olympic athletes and major organizations.
The decision to bring in an expert is tied to the team’s irregular schedule. Late matches, especially those kicking off at 21:00 in La Liga and the Champions League, often mean players go to bed well past midnight, which negatively affects their recovery. Flick intends to give rest the same attention as nutrition, believing it to be a key factor in consistent results.
