After the collapse of the deal to sell the majority stake in Everton to 777 Partners and Blue Heaven Holdings Limited last month, current owner Farhad Moshiri continued to search for potential buyers. Earlier, we reported that two Liverpool businessmen, Andy Bell and George Downing, who are Everton fans, had expressed interest in acquiring the club with the backing of American billionaire Michael Dell.

However, it was also known that Roma owner Dan Friedkin was interested in acquiring Everton. According to The Guardian, the American is now the frontrunner in this matter. Reports indicate that Friedkin and Moshiri have reached a tentative agreement on the club's takeover.

Farhad Moshiri is prepared to sell his 94% stake in Everton, and Friedkin is currently the most attractive option for him.

Dan Friedkin has a net worth of £4.81 billion and has owned Roma since 2020. His portfolio includes more than just the Italian club; last year, he acquired FC Cannes, which competes in the Championnat National 2, the fourth tier of French football. He outbid 73 other investors for the French club. Notably, before purchasing Roma, Friedkin attempted to buy AC Milan, but his €1.2 billion offer was unsuccessful, and the deal fell through.

Last season, Everton finished fifteenth in the Premier League, narrowly avoiding relegation despite sanctions in the form of points deductions for breaching financial fair play rules.
