Espanyol reveals details of García's transfer to Barcelona through... its owner's financial reporting

The obligations of public companies to disclose their full financial statements sometimes outpace even the best insiders when it comes to breaking transfer news.
Details: Such is the case with the transfer of Espanyol goalkeeper Joan García to Barcelona. Since Espanyol is owned by the Chinese public company Rastar, they were required to announce that the 'Blaugrana' have triggered the release clause in the goalkeeper's contract and to disclose all the details of the deal.
In the report published by Diario Sport, it is revealed that on June 14, Espanyol received official notification from La Liga regarding the payment of €25 million. Barcelona will spread this amount over six years—the duration of García's contract with the Catalan club.
The next step is for La Liga to approve the release clause payment after verifying all the conditions, and to grant Barcelona permission to officially register García as part of the squad.
Reminder: Camp Nou might also see the departure of Marc-André ter Stegen this summer, but the German goalkeeper wants to receive the full payout of his three-year contract in the event of an early termination.
