The English Football Association has put forward an initiative to reform the qualification system for the World Cup and the European Championship, arguing that it's become overly predictable.

FA chief executive Mark Bullingham stated that the format is due for an update to boost competitiveness in international football. According to him, England is already participating in a working group that is considering potential changes.

"We want to make international football more exciting and help it grow. UEFA is analyzing the situation, and England is actively assisting in finding solutions," Bullingham emphasized.

If the proposed changes are approved, they should be implemented soon—especially with the 2030 World Cup, set to be hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, on the horizon. At the same time, the qualification format for Euro 2028 will remain unchanged.
