In the Chinese city of Xiamen, the first stage of the Diamond League season commenced with a remarkable achievement: a new world record in the high jump.

Swedish track and field athlete Armand Duplantis soared to a height of 6.24 meters, surpassing his own previous record by 1 centimeter, which was set last September in Eugene, USA.

Duplantis successfully cleared 5.62 meters on his first attempt. He then conquered 5.82 meters on his first try and 6.00 meters on his third jump, securing victory in the Diamond League stage. Already as the winner, Armand raised the bar to 6.24 meters, setting a new world record height, which he achieved on his first attempt.

For Duplantis, this marks his eighth career record and the first one in 2024. The Swede first set the world record in February 2020 when he reached a height of 6.17 metres. Since then, Arman has improved his result by one centimetre each time and has already reached a height of 6.24 m.
