Racing has officially announced the signing of midfielder Sergio Canales, who previously played for Mexican side Monterrey.
Details: The 35-year-old midfielder joins the Spanish club as a free agent and has signed a contract until the end of the 2026/27 season.
For Canales, this marks a return to his hometown club after a lengthy absence. He is a product of Racing's academy and previously played for the first team from 2008 to 2010 before continuing his career elsewhere.
Last season, the Spanish midfielder made 32 appearances in all competitions, tallying 13 goals and 5 assists.
Racing enters the new season with a special status: the team won the Segunda and returned to La Liga for the first time in 14 years. The signing of Canales is expected to provide the club with valuable experience ahead of their campaign in the top flight.
