The Los Angeles Lakers and the Clippers are reportedly interested in signing Golden State Warriors' point guard Chris Paul, as reported by journalist Marc Stein.

Paul has expressed a desire to be closer to his family, who reside in Los Angeles. According to Stein, there is a possibility that Paul may not extend his contract with the Warriors.

"I constantly hear that if Chris Paul does indeed become a free agent at some point, he will attract interest from both the Clippers and the Lakers. Paul's desire to be closer to his family in Los Angeles is well-known, but the interest in bringing him to the Lakers may not be unanimous within the organization, despite his friendship with LeBron James," Stein reports.

In 58 games last season, Paul averaged 9.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 6.8 assists in 26.4 minutes per game.

It is also worth noting that the Los Angeles Lakers have recently appointed a new head coach. The choice surprised many as they hired 39-year-old J.J. Redick, who has no prior coaching experience.
