Bafana coach Hugo Broos expressed his satisfaction with his team's performance in Friday's friendly against Tanzania.
Details: The match ended in a goalless draw, as the Belgian manager took the opportunity to experiment with his lineup, fielding as many as eight debutants.
"Today, there were eight new players in the national team, a fresh side made up of guys who had never played together before, except for those from the same club. So it wasn’t easy. I said before the game, the result didn’t matter. For me, that wasn’t important.
Of course, we wanted to win, and we could have won because we had a few chances. But the game itself was more important."
Don’t underestimate how tough it is to bring 23 players together and pick 11 who have never played as a unit before—it’s no small challenge," Broos explained.
Tanzania coach Hemed Suleiman acknowledged Bafana Bafana’s potential ahead of upcoming tournaments. He recognized the tough task facing the South African national team and praised the players’ efforts to adapt and shape their strategy even under difficult circumstances.
"As I said before, South Africa has a good team. I think they’re trying to build for the future, because I noticed they were missing some players," Suleiman pointed out.
Reminder: South Africa’s next match will be against Mozambique on Tuesday as they continue their preparations for official tournaments.
