Double standards? UEFA rejects Benfica's appeal. Valverde to play in the return leg
Benfica failed to prove the Uruguayan's guilt.
Details: Earlier today, it was revealed that UEFA has officially dismissed Benfica's complaint regarding the conduct of Real Madrid's 27-year-old midfielder, Federico Valverde, who in the first leg of the Champions League playoff brazenly struck the Eagles' defender Samuel Dall in the face with his fist.
Benfica requested that UEFA suspend Valverde, arguing that the incident clearly warranted a red card, but the main referee ignored it. UEFA, in turn, decided that this episode does not merit a suspension.
Benfica has already responded, stating that it considers UEFA's decision to be unfair.
This means Federico Valverde will take to the pitch on Wednesday, while Benfica will have to play without head coach Jose Mourinho and Gianluca Prestianni, both suspended by UEFA's ruling.
Reminder: It's not that simple. Benfica files complaint against Prestianni's suspension. The Argentine still has a chance to play on Wednesday
