Disaster for Tottenham! De Zerbi suffers another defeat as Aston Villa punish Spurs
Tottenham's nightmare start to the season continues, with Roberto De Zerbi's side suffering another painful defeat in the Premier League.
Details: In the fifth round of the English Premier League, Tottenham hosted Aston Villa and suffered a 2-3 defeat. The visitors opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time through Johan Manzambi, who capitalised on a defensive mistake by the hosts. Despite creating several promising opportunities before the break, Spurs failed to find the back of the net.
After the interval, Tottenham tried to get back into the game, but Aston Villa punished their defensive mistakes once again. In the 67th minute, Nicolas Jackson doubled the visitors' advantage, before Emiliano Buendía made it 3-0 with a spectacular strike into the top corner.
The London side eventually managed to respond, with Conor Gallagher among the goalscorers. Tottenham scored twice to reduce the deficit to 2-3, but their efforts were not enough to prevent another defeat.
It is worth noting that Tottenham have collected just two points from their opening five Premier League matches this season. De Zerbi's team began the campaign with defeats against Brentford and Newcastle, followed by goalless draws against Nottingham Forest and Everton. Aston Villa, meanwhile, secured their first league victory of the season.
