Manchester United has announced that head coach Erik ten Hag is leaving the club.
The decision comes as the club’s management expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s current results. On their official website, the Red Devils extended their thanks to the Dutch specialist for his time spent at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag took charge of United in April 2022, later extending his contract until 2026 in the summer of 2024.
Under ten Hag’s guidance, Manchester United finished in eighth place in last season’s Premier League. At the time of his departure, the team sat much lower in the standings, in 14th place with only 11 points from nine games.
Ten Hag's assistant Ruud van Nistelrooy has been appointed as interim head coach.
