Chippa United’s Stanley Nwabali World Cup hopes are dashed by Democratic Republic of Congo
Stanley Nwabali is not going to the World Cup.
The Nigerian goalkeeper misses out on this chance to represent Betway Premiership side Chippa United at next year's global showpiece.
The Super eagles, a powerhouse footballing nation on the African continent, were expected to make it to the tournament in USA, Canada and Mexico via the Play-Off having finished as one of the third best teams in their group.
“I really feel like us Nigeria we feel like it’s a really second chance for us coming into these World Cup qualifiers,” said Nwabali said ahead of the games in Morocco.
They lost 4-3 to Democratic Republic of Congo having played to a 1-1 draw in regulation time last night.
Nwabali now will shift his focus into the Betway Premiership to help steer the Chilli Boys out of the relegation quagmire.
This weekend they face Orlando Pirates with hope of moving away from the bottom of the PSL table with nine points after 12 games.
That hope remains alive for Nwabali as they still have a chance to change things unlike their deferred World Cup dream.
