Chaos in Paris! PSG fans want their own club to forfeit a match
An unexpected scheduling decision has sparked outrage among Paris Saint-Germain supporters, with some fans even demanding that their own team forfeit an upcoming match.
Details: According to Le Parisien, PSG supporters are furious after the club's Ligue 1 encounter against Lyon was rescheduled for Monday, October 26, at 20:30, directly clashing with the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony. The decision has triggered a wave of angry reactions on social media, with some fans calling for a complete boycott of the fixture.
Some supporters have gone even further, urging PSG to deliberately forfeit the match against Lyon or field their reserve team instead. Fans believe the club should not be forced to play one of its biggest domestic fixtures while football's most prestigious individual awards are being presented.
The match was originally scheduled for Sunday, October 25, but was postponed following an order from the Paris Police Prefecture. Authorities cited security concerns amid planned demonstrations in the French capital, which require a significant police presence.
The situation is particularly frustrating for supporters because several PSG players are nominated for major Ballon d'Or awards. Fans have also questioned why the NFL game scheduled for Sunday at the Stade de France has not been postponed. However, the demands to forfeit or use reserves are reactions from supporters, rather than announced plans from PSG.
Notably, PSG experienced almost the same situation in 2025, when their postponed match against Marseille coincided with the Ballon d'Or ceremony at which Ousmane Dembélé received the prestigious award.
Reminder: Sudden change! PSG vs Lyon match postponed
