Carvajal on the verge of a sensational return! La Liga club preparing a move for former Real Madrid defender
Getafe are close to signing Dani Carvajal, who has been a free agent since June 30 after leaving Real Madrid. Club president Ángel Torres confirmed that negotiations are virtually complete, although the final details still need to be agreed and the player’s approval secured.
The main obstacle has been La Liga’s financial regulations. Getafe’s management had to find a way to register the 34-year-old right-back in compliance with the competition’s requirements. Torres is reportedly personally involved in the situation and has provided the necessary guarantees to unblock the transfer.
Carvajal left Real Madrid after an impressive spell with the club, winning 27 trophies, including six Champions League titles. Despite interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United States, the defender could continue his career in Spanish football.
The move would be a major boost for José Bordalás’s side, which would acquire an experienced player with a wealth of international experience. In addition, Getafe’s proximity to Carvajal’s hometown would allow him to remain close to his family.
