Carrick survives at the last second! Manchester United's dramatic plan before Chelsea revealed
Manchester United's crisis has reached the point where Michael Carrick was reportedly one decision away from losing his job.
Details: According to Manchester United correspondent Samuel Luckhurst, chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox held lengthy talks over Carrick's future on Monday. The club's decision-makers initially planned to make a change in the dugout before the Premier League trip to Chelsea, but the plan was abandoned after they failed to reach a unanimous choice on who should replace the English coach.

As a result, Carrick has received another chance and will remain in charge for Saturday's away match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Insiders stressed that both the coach and his players will have an opportunity to reverse the team's alarming run of results.
The report adds that United are not fully convinced by the available candidates they have considered. No formal approach has been made to Antonio Conte, while Eddie Howe has been assessing the situation in case an offer arrives. Julian Nagelsmann also has links with recruitment director Christopher Vivell, although there is still no agreement inside the club over the preferred option.
Carrick remains under enormous pressure after the 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth. It is worth noting that Manchester United are currently 16th in the Premier League with seven points from eight matches and are on an eight-game winless run in all competitions. Their next league fixture is away to Chelsea on October 31.
Reminder: Trust remains ahead of the trip to London. Manchester United give Carrick time
