England broke the deadlock in the World Cup third-place match against France with a sensational goal from Declan Rice. The midfielder unleashed a powerful and precise strike from outside the box, finding the back of the net after intercepting the ball in midfield.
This match was also a milestone for Rice himself. Wearing the captain's armband, he made history as only the second Arsenal player ever to start a major international tournament match (World Cup or European Championship) as England's captain.
The first was the legendary Arsenal defender Tony Adams, who captained the England national team at Euro 1996.
