CAF Confirms CHAN 2024 to Remain for Local Players Only

The 2024 TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) will continue to only accept players who compete in their national leagues, according to a statement released by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Any speculation over the inclusion of players from foreign leagues in the competition has been dispelled by this decision.
CAF is dedicated to helping and growing local football talent by following these rules. The CHAN tournament is now very important for many African players who want to build their careers.
Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will work together to host the 2024 Africa Nations Championship. The event will take place from February 1 to February 28, 2025. The tournament is expected to have a lively and exciting atmosphere because of the enthusiastic football fans in these countries. These nations are famous for their passion for football, which will make the tournament even more thrilling.
CAF has also confirmed that the draw for the 2024 CHAN tournament will take place at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, Kenya, on January 15, 2025, at 8:00 PM local time. The tournament will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, with matches scheduled to run from February 1 to 28, 2025.
Some of Africa's best footballing nations will compete in the tournament, including Senegal, the reigning champions who defeated Algeria in the 2022 final.
Patrice Motsepe, the president of CAF, expressed his trust in the East African tournament preparations, particularly in Kenya. He talked about the significant infrastructural upgrades and expressed his excitement for the competition, saying he thinks it will be among the greatest CHAN tournaments ever.
Nicholas Musonye, the Chairman of Kenya’s Local Organizing Committee (LOC), confirmed that Kenya is ready to co-host the event. Musonye maintains his optimism in the face of certain difficulties, highlighting the significant advancements to far. He reassured everyone that the crew is working hard to ensure that the event has excellent hospitality, healthcare, and infrastructure.
In 2024, the CECAFA Zone will host the CHAN competition for the ninth time. Morocco and the Democratic Republic of the Congo have each won the tournament twice, while Senegal is currently the champion.
