CAF Confederation Cup: ‘We will play our hearts out to finish well,’ says FC San Pedro coach Hassen Bellil
Already eliminated, FC San Pedro hosts USM Alger on Sunday 8 February at the Laurent Pokou Stadium at 4pm GMT.
However, the Ivorian club will not be taking its foot off the gas against its Algerian opponent, despite being eliminated before the last two rounds of the group stage of the 2025-26 CAF Confederation Cup. Speaking to the media at a pre-match press conference on Saturday 7 February, the FC San Pedro coach clearly stated the objective.
His team will give their all to win the match and finish on a high note in Group A.
"FC San Pedro will play an honourable match. We will play hard to finish well. We have no regrets about our elimination from the quarter-finals; we have a young team and the objective was to reach the group stage. So we are happy with the players' performance so far. As for Dramane Kamagaté, our striker who left for USM Alger, we have no regrets about losing him. The club's policy is to ensure that players progress in their careers. We miss him as a striker, but the most important thing is his career. And we are happy for him," said Hassen Bellil.
