CAF Confederation Cup: FC San Pedro loses again at Laurent Pokou Stadium
A match full of twists and turns in San Pedro.
FC San Pedro may not be able to exit the 2025-26 CAF Confederation Cup with the honour it desires. Already eliminated from Group A, the Ivorian club lost again 2-3 at home on Sunday 8 February against USM Alger.
The match got off to a flying start for the Algerians, who took the lead in the 2nd minute. Malone Junior, assisted by Islam Merili, opened the scoring 0-1 for USM Alger. Three minutes later, Likonza Gody doubled the lead with a decisive pass from Zakaria Draoui. He sealed the deal for the visitors in the 5th minute, 0-2.
But the home side's response was not long in coming. Issouf Dosso reduced the deficit in the 6th minute, 1-2, before restoring parity some thirty minutes later. A pass from Amalam Dimitri Allou allowed Dosso to score a brace in the 38th minute, making it 2-2. The suspense continued until stoppage time before San Pedro cracked.
Bouderbala, served by Ghacha, crucified San Pedro by scoring the third goal that gave USM the victory. The Algerians consolidated their position at the top of Group A with 13 points, while the Ivorians, already eliminated, remain third with three points.
