Boca Begin Squad Overhaul with Paredes Return and More Signings in Sight

Boca Juniors have wasted no time planning their rebuild after a disappointing FIFA Club World Cup campaign. According to TyC Sports, Juan Román Riquelme, head coach Miguel Ángel Russo, and the club’s Football Council are back in Buenos Aires and focused on reshaping the squad for the second half of 2025.
With captain Marcos Rojo on the verge of departure, and the team on break until Tuesday, the transfer window is picking up speed. Marco Pellegrino and Malcom Braida are already in, and Leandro Paredes is set to follow. The Argentine international has agreed to Boca’s offer, and only the activation of a €3.5 million buyout clause with Roma stands in the way of his official return.
“I’ve always felt close. The desire is there, but it’s not just my decision,” Paredes said recently from Miami, where he watched Boca’s Club World Cup match against Benfica.
Beyond Paredes, Boca are targeting a center-back, a central midfielder, and a winger. While no defenders have been confirmed, Adonís Frías and Gastón Hernández are still under consideration. On the flanks, after losing out on Walter Mazzantti to Independiente, Boca are weighing foreign options: Jáminton Campaz (Rosario Central), Marino Hinestroza (Atlético Nacional), John Córdoba (Millonarios), and Lucas Villalba (Nacional).
The reshuffle is underway, and more moves are expected as the transfer window develops.
