The Spaniard is currently limited to gym workouts, raising doubts over his availability for the upcoming La Liga clash.
Details: According to Mundo Deportivo, just two days before the Real Madrid vs Betis match, alarm bells are ringing in the Los Blancos camp: defender Dean Huijsen did not take to the field with the team for training. Instead, he worked individually in the gym, casting serious doubt on his participation in the upcoming fixture.
As a result, the Spanish defender is almost certain to miss the match against Betis, forcing head coach Xabi Alonso to reshuffle his lineup. To complete the training session, Alonso called up four academy players: David Jiménez, Thiago Pitarch, Mestre, and Álvaro, to compensate for the five absentees due to injury.
A final decision on Huijsen's inclusion in the match squad will be made closer to kickoff.
Besides him, Real Madrid’s injury list already includes: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Éder Militão, and Kylian Mbappé. In addition, Brahim Díaz will be unavailable as he represents Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations.
It’s worth noting that this season, the Spanish defender has made seventeen appearances for Real Madrid across all competitions, recording one goal and one assist.
Reminder: Rodrygo is set to leave Real Madrid. Arsenal and Manchester City are considered the frontrunners for his signature.
