Though it's only January on the calendar, Real Madrid are already plotting their strategy for the summer transfer window. The club’s management is beginning to set their priorities, and the upcoming market promises to be a busy one.
According to Marca, the Madrid giants are looking to capitalize on Rodri’s contract situation with Manchester City and will attempt to sign him this coming summer. The current deal runs until the summer of 2027, meaning that after the current season, the midfielder will have just one year left on his contract. Negotiations for an extension have already taken place, but the parties have yet to reach a final agreement, which could potentially lower the transfer fee for the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner.
Manchester City still see Rodri as an irreplaceable part of their squad. However, if a new deal isn’t agreed, the English powerhouse may be forced to consider selling their midfield leader.
