AmaZulu sign Brazilian defender Gustavo Vieira Lopes from Mozambican side Ferroviario da Beira ahead of the Betway Premiership restart
Gustavo Vieira Lopes has joined Betway Premiership side AmaZulu from Ferroviario da Beira in Mozambique.
Vieira Lopes is a Brazilian left-back and he has already completed a medical assessment at the Durban club ahead of the PSL resumption next week.
The 25-year-old spent two seasons in Mozambique where he has been impressive.
“I’m going to pursue a new challenge; it’s an important step in my career. I want to thank the people of Beira for everything. This city will always be a home for me; I gained a family here,” he told Mozambican publication, Lance, ahead of his move.
His club also released a statement in supporting his move to the Betway Premiership.
“Thank you, Gustavo! Your passage through Chiveve was synonymous with work, grit and overcoming. Thank you, Gustavo, for defending this club with so much passion. Bring new flights, new achievements, and new stories!” the statement said.
AmaZulu will face TS Galaxy at home next weekend as the PSL returns from Afcon recess.
