Swiss coach Marcel Koller praised Al Ahly’s remarkable 6-1 win over Chabab Belouizdad in the CAF Champions League, a result that saw the Red Devils top their group in the 2024/2025 edition of the competition.
"We must be happy with such a big result and our position at the top of the group in the Champions League," Koller said in a post-match statement, expressing his happiness with the performance.
Reflecting on the team’s remarkable turnaround after trailing 1-0, Koller explained, “During the halftime break, I spoke to the players and reminded them of their quality. I told them they are great players, and they must show that to the fans in the stadium. That made the difference in the second half.”
Koller also addressed the recent tensions surrounding the team, following fan criticism after their failure in the Intercontinental Cup. He said, “There must be mutual respect between all parties. Attacking players is difficult, and overcoming that is not easy. We understand the fans' disappointment, but we must turn the page and start fresh.”
In the future, Al Ahly will play El-Masry in the Egyptian Premier League at the Borg El Arab Stadium on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at 8:00 PM Cairo time.
