AFCON 2025: Senegal Face DR Congo in Group D Showdown
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations continues on Saturday evening as Senegal, one-time champions, take on DR Congo, two-time winners, at the Tangier Grand Stadium.
Both teams won their opening matches, and victory here would secure qualification for the knockout stage with a game to spare. Senegal opened Group D with a commanding 3-0 win over Botswana, extending a run of four clean sheets in their last five matches.
Under Pape Thiaw, the Lions of Teranga look consistent and confident, and as Africa’s top-ranked side remain tournament favourites. DR Congo sit second after edging Benin Republic, relying on physicality and high pressing under Sebastien Desabre.
Senegal are unbeaten in eight meetings, and with attacking stars Sadio Mane, Nicholas Jackson and Ismaila Sarr, start slight favourites again here for the Tangier encounter tonight.
