Abbubaker Mobara arrives at Chippa United with the hope of signing for the Betway Premiership side as they aim to move away from the drop zone

Abbubakar Mobara is training with Chippa United with the aim of securing a deal Betway Premiership side.

The former Ajax Cape Town, Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu utility player has been club-less since leaving Usuthu midway through last season.

Arthur Zwane’s arrival at the Durban side signalled the end of Mobara’s stay with the PSL side even though he was always dishing out splendid displays whenever given a chance.

His experience is likely to boost Chippa United’s survival hopes as the Eastern Cape based side is in the relegation quagmire.

Interestingly, former assistant to Zwane at AmaZulu, Vusumuzi Vilakazi, is now in charge of Chippa United and it remains to be seen if he will sign Mobara as he was at AmaZulu when the player left.

Mobara’s best season at AmaZulu was when Benni McCarthy was coach as he signed under the former Cape Town City coach in a season which saw them finish second on the PSL standings.

The 31-year-old is likely to be a good signing for the Chilli Boys in their pursuit for safety in the Betway Premiership which returns in a week’s time from the Afcon recess.
