The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to replace Bangladesh with Scotland for the 2026 T20 Cricket World Cup. The move comes after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) refused to send its national team to India, citing security concerns.

Reports indicate that negotiations between the ICC and BCB lasted nearly three weeks, but Bangladesh stood firm in its decision. The ICC stated it found "no credible or verifiable threats" to the team, officials, or fans in India.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Bangladesh intends to appeal to the ICC Dispute Resolution Committee, though it remains unclear whether this body can overturn decisions already ratified by the ICC Board. The ICC has emphasized that altering the tournament schedule at such a late stage would be impractical and could set a dangerous precedent for future competitions.

Bangladesh was originally drawn into Group C and scheduled to play matches in Kolkata and Mumbai—fixtures that will now be contested by Scotland. Meanwhile, BCB leadership has accused the ICC of double standards, comparing the situation to India's refusal to travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
