A response has arrived. Manchester City makes an inquiry about Barcelona star
Manchester City have shown interest in 19-year-old Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsí. According to Topskills Sports UK, the English club made an inquiry to the Catalan side regarding a possible transfer for the Spanish footballer.
Barcelona immediately rejected the approach and made it clear that they have no intention of parting with Cubarsí. The club considers the centre-back completely untouchable and is not considering his sale.
Cubarsí is a product of Barcelona’s academy who made his first-team debut in January 2024, at the age of 16. By the following season, he had become an important first-team player and made 56 appearances in all competitions. In 2025, the defender won La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup with the Catalan club.
In addition, Cubarsí represents Spain. In 2024, he became an Olympic champion at the Paris Games, while in 2026 he helped the national team win the World Cup.
The footballer’s contract with Barcelona runs until 2029. The Catalan club have no intention of letting go of one of the team’s leading young defenders despite interest from Manchester City.
